Privacy Policy

1. What Crkle is

Crkle is a browser extension and desktop application that enhances your AI prompts and injects personalised context into AI chat sessions. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can control or delete it.

2. What we do NOT store

• The full text of your prompts. We never store, log, or transmit the content of your messages to any third party.
• Your AI responses or conversation history.
• Any information from websites you visit other than the supported AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity).

3. What we do store

• Enhancement metadata — platform type (e.g. "chatgpt"), model used, and a count of enhancements. No prompt text is stored.
• Style profile — aggregate statistics about the types of improvements you approve (e.g. "add specificity"). No raw prompts are stored in the style profile.
• Context files — text files you explicitly upload or create in the Context Library. These are stored only when you create them and can be deleted at any time.
• Memory blocks — short MGML summaries you create or import from ChatGPT / Claude memories. These are stored encrypted in our database.
• Account information — your email address and display name.
• Usage counts — total enhancements, weekly count, streak days, used for your dashboard and leaderboard.

4. How your data is stored

All data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with Row Level Security enabled on every table. Only you can read or modify your own rows. Data is stored on servers in the US (Supabase + Railway). We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.

5. Leaderboard

The leaderboard shows enhancement counts only. By default your name is hidden (Anonymous). You can opt in to show your display name from the Settings page. You can opt out again at any time.

6. Chrome extension permissions

• storage — saves your auth token and memory data locally in the browser.
• clipboardRead / clipboardWrite — used only when you explicitly click Enhance to insert the improved prompt into the input field. Never used passively.
• Host permissions (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai) — required to detect the input field and inject your memory context on supported platforms.

7. Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page in your dashboard. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. We will remove all your data within 30 days of the deletion request.

8. Cookies

We use Supabase session tokens stored in sessionStorage (not cookies) for authentication on the web dashboard. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top if we make material changes. Continued use of Crkle after changes constitutes acceptance.
